The Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) engaged HMA to evaluate the Chlamydia Targeted Grants Program. The objectives of the evaluation were to:

  • prepare a comparative analysis of the 20 funded chlamydia projects to determine if any one project demonstrated feasibility, acceptability and cost effectiveness to enable roll-out on a larger scale
  • establish the scope for introducing a national program using a model based on the projects involved in the Chlamydia Targeted Grants.

The evaluation comprised a desktop evaluation (involving the review and analysis of existing documentation) and phone interviews of all project participant organisations. Demographic and geographic factors and their influence on the outcome of the projects were considered in the evaluation process. Detailed case studies were undertaken at five sites.

The project commenced in March 2010 and was completed in July 2010
