The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners engaged HMA to undertake an evaluation of the General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration. This crossw-professional collaboration has responsibility for establishing standards of education and training for the Better Access to Psychiatrists, Psychologists and General Practitioners (GPs) under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (Better Access) Initiative , accrediting training programs, and promoting the development and uptake of quality professional development in mental health for GPs.

Key tasks involved:

  • reviewing program documentation
  • undertaking consultations with key stakeholders
  • analysing program data, and
  • MBS service delivery data.

The project commenced in December 2014 and the evaluation report was completed in July 2015
