ACT Health engaged HMA to conduct a pilot of workplace health promotion activities in five pilot sites across the ACT. HMA’s role in the pilot was to provide project management support for the five pilot sites and, with the help pilot site representatives, coordinate service provision for required health promotion actives. Key tasks included:

  • development of an expression of interest for ACT workplaces to respond to, and selection of five appropriate pilot sites for the program
  • developing a supportive and engaging environment for the pilot site sites through introductory seminars, in keeping with national health promotion messages
  • employee survey of pilot sites to establish the baseline data (aggregated) lifestyle and health characteristics of employees at the five sites
  • needs assessment of pilot sites to establish an action plan for change and the types of services that were practical in the short and medium term
  • project management support and guidance through seminars / workshops and telephone / email support
  • coordination of external service providers for required services
  • assessment of the usefulness of the pilot including barriers and enablers to implementation
  • preparation of final reports for a) the pilot sites, and b) ACT Health.

The project commenced in August 2010 and was completed in December 2011
