Darryn joined HMA in April 2018. During his tenure, he has worked across a broad variety of project types. In 2018 he supported the evaluation and commercial viability assessment of a nationally funded community-based nursing service. In 2019 he was responsible for leading the design of a new mental health service for older Australians for one of Victoria’s Primary Health Networks and in 2020 he designed and undertook a value-for-money assessment of a commonwealth-funded postvention suicide support for Indigenous Australians.
Over the last few years, Darryn has made major contributions to projects in the aged care sector, which have included a market analysis of the Home Care Package market in Victoria, and multiple evaluations of commonwealth-funded aged care programs.
More recently Darryn led the design of a prospective cancer care navigation service for Australian cancer patients, which included a cost-benefit analysis of the service model. He has also completed a process evaluation of a new eHealth solution for an Australian jurisdiction. Darryn’s work has also had a strong focus on improving rural and remote health, contributing to several large-scale projects focused on improving access to primary care in rural and remote areas.
Darryn has experience working with a range of clients including commonwealth and state departments, PHNs, peak bodies, not-for-profits, hospitals, and service providers. Darryn seeks to establish strong relationships with all clients through his collaborative approach and use of clear and effective communication throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
Prior to joining HMA, Darryn worked as a physiotherapist for a number of years, which provided him with a sound understanding of the national healthcare system. Darryn has completed his Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) from the University of Melbourne and holds an MBA from Deakin University. Most recently he has completed a Graduate Certificate in Analytics from RMIT.
