Deborah Roczo is an accomplished management consultant with over 19 years of experience specialising in the health sector. She became Managing Director of HMA in 2021.
Throughout her career, Deborah has contributed to numerous high-impact projects across Australia, working with Federal and State/Territory health departments, tertiary hospitals, and non-government organisations. She excels in program evaluation, program development, and strategic and service planning. Her expertise spans a wide range of health areas including cancer services, primary and acute health, rural health, wellness and health promotion, mental health, pharmacy, genomics, and biotechnology.
Deborah’s consulting work is characterised by her strong project management skills and her ability to design and implement robust evaluation frameworks. She has led projects focused on reviewing program implementation and outcomes, governance, and grant administration processes; as well as hospital service planning, cancer services planning, program development and direction setting for government and non-government organisations. Known for her collaborative approach, Deborah excels in stakeholder consultation, options development, and workshop facilitation. She is as comfortable leading multijurisdictional projects for the Federal Government as she is assisting small not-for-profits and charity organisations. Deborah and her team are known for their pragmatic and evidence-based options and recommendations.
Prior to her career in management consulting, Deborah was an academic researcher. She completed her PhD in molecular genetics at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne before enhancing her skills in a post-doctoral research position in France. This provides a solid foundation for her analytical and problem-solving abilities, making Deborah a trusted advisor in the health consulting field.
