Implementation Plan: Monitoring and Evaluation Framework and Staff Capacity Building Project 2022

Implementation Plan: Monitoring and Evaluation Framework and Staff Capacity Building Project 2022, Victorian Integrated Cancer Services

The Integrated Cancer Services (ICS) in Victoria were established in 2005 by the Victorian Department of Health as an improvement network for Victoria’s cancer services. Collectively, the ICS are referred to as the Victorian Integrated Cancer Services (VICS) and aim to promote the development of a cohesive, integrated, and multidisciplinary approach to the provision of cancer care across the state. VICS engaged HMA to develop a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plan and staff education program for the implementation activities delivered under the Victorian Integrated Cancer Services Implementation Plan 2021–2024.

As part of the education program for VICS staff, HMA facilitated three evaluation capacity-building workshops for staff. Key tasks included:

  • Undertaking a pre-workshop assessment of the evaluation needs of VICS staff to understand the level at which to pitch the workshops.
  • Development of a tailored workshop program based on monitoring and evaluation principles. Materials included workshop presentation, learner’s resource, and facilitator’s guide.
  • Delivery of three interactive one-day, face-to-face workshops at a central Melbourne location, including individual and small group activities.
  • Post-workshop feedback questionnaire.
  • Provision of workshop summary and analysis of feedback questionnaire to the VICS.

The project commenced in March 2022 and was completed in September 2022. Workshops were held in May and August 2022.
