Matthew Ross joined HMA in 2026. He is a strategic, results-driven public health and evaluation professional with experience across government and the not-for-profit sector. He is recognised for translating complex data into clear, actionable advice that improves health outcomes for Australians.
Matthew specialises in monitoring and evaluation, evidence-informed policy advice and development, stakeholder engagement, capability-building and behavioural research. Prior to joining HMA, he was an Assistant Director at the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, where he led the monitoring and evaluation of Strengthening Medicare reforms, and provided strategic insights to senior executives to support decision-making and policy development.
Previously, Matthew led large-scale research and evaluation projects at Cancer Council Victoria, delivering practical findings to improve cancer screening and early detection programs and communication campaigns.
Matthew holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Biomedicine from the University of Melbourne.
