Get Skilled Access engaged HMA to undertake an outcomes evaluation of the Inclusive Health pilot program. The pilot provided education and training to health professionals and other hospital staff to improve staff confidence and ability to provide services to people with a disability. It was implemented at five hospitals in New South Wales and Victoria. Key tasks included:
- preparation of an evaluation framework outlining the key evaluation questions, data sources and analysis methods
- preparation of an ethics application for the pilot and evaluation activities in collaboration with Get Skilled Access
- development of online follow-up survey for hospital staff to assess the impact of the training three months on, including retention rates
- analysis of hospital complaints data pre- and post-training to assess the impacts of the training on patient experience
- facilitation of an online survey for people with a disability in the pilot hospital catchments, to seek further information on their experiences if they had attended a participating hospital in the pilot timeframes.
The project commenced in June 2022 and was completed in January 2024.
