Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) engaged HMA to undertake an online survey regarding genetics and family history of ovarian cancer. OCA first undertook this survey in 2015. In 2018, OCA engaged HMA to conduct a repeat survey of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the previous five years. Both the 2015 and 2018 surveys yielded excellent information and allowed for trend analysis. The 2022 survey builds on the two previous surveys updated for currency, with information provided by an advisory group of gynae-oncology health professionals and consumers. Key tasks included:

  • conversion of survey questions to an online format ready for distribution through OCA channels to women living with ovarian cancer or their family/carers
  • preparation of an ethics summation to the Bellberry human research ethics committee to undertake the online survey
  • survey response analysis including cleansing of the raw data and analysis of qualitative and quantitative responses to identify trends over the period 2015–2022 and identify any new insights
  • preparation of a survey analysis findings report, and
  • preparation of a manuscript suitable for publication in collaboration with OCA.

The project commenced in February 2022 and was completed in October 2023.
